(lively harmonica music) (engine revving) (lively harmonica music) - What is Moonstock?
(people chattering) - Moonstock is a very small Woodstock.
- Check one, two, three, four!
(lively harmonica music) - Moonstock is just one of the coolest places on Earth to play music.
(laughs) - It's the number one venue for live music in the Greater Waddle metropolitan area.
- [Audience] Yeah.
(applause) (crowd laughing) (crowd clapping) - [Kyle] You're in for a treat.
(lively harmonica music) - See the design there for Moonstock?
Took the dove out.
Put the chicken in.
Because he had chickens at the time.
- So it's an homage.
- Yes.
It is.
(lively harmonica music) - The setting is perfect.
The light is perfect.
And then you get to meet nice people.
- Well, Moonstock has evolved.
We started with, you know, one or two people playing in the pergola over here.
Benches all around and people sat on the side.
But they were facing uphill, which doesn't work very well on soft ground.
So the back legs of their chairs would dig in and they'd just tip over.
So a friend said, you know, we really ought to put a stage down there and everybody can look downhill.
You know, it's one of those, "If you build it, will they come?"
(upbeat music with construction noises) So we did that, and that was a great suggestion by my neighbor Glenn Johnson who's been a big part of this whole process.
- It's a natural amphitheater, and it's totally good vibes.
I just feel like home playing here.
And it's definitely one of my favorite gigs.
(crowd applauding and cheering) - [Richard] Thank you.
- Why do I do this?
(dog barks) - Why do you guys do this?
- For the love of music, and the love of our friends and family... Whoa!
And dogs!
(laughing) - Hi, my name's Annette.
This is my first time at Moonstock.
And this is Chelsea.
- I think it's great.
I love this place.
- The easiness of it, coming up here you can bring your children.
Performances have been phenomenal.
Each performance is different than the next and each one is unique and enjoyable.
(Eric scatting) - For me, Moonstock is community building.
And at a time like this, we really need it.
(Eric scatting) - I think it's a pretty relaxed, yet passionate and fun group of people.
Some people have told us that they feel that they're members of a secret club, a secret organization, that nobody else knows about.
(Eric scatting) (crowd cheering) - Thank you, Moonstock.
- Thank you.
- [Catherine] We say you can come and invite your fun friends.
Kyle uses that as an emphasis.
- Anybody can come, even if you're not fun you can still come.
(drum thuds) - Moonstock is a great time unless it rains.
(laughs) Which we're like, uuuggh - I don't know.
- No rain!
No rain!
No rain!
No rain!
(laughs) Nothing will beat the time that we set up and no one looked at the radar, and literally there's a supercell that formed over top of us and we were trapped inside here for about 30 minutes.
- It's looking shaky!
- We had a little drizzle already.
- They went from 0% chance of rain to 51% chance.
- [Interviewer] So these are the risks of being an outdoor concert promoter.
- That's right.
(person laughs) - [Catherine] Well, Kyle loved music and he loved the fact that he could maybe create a space for musicians to play uninterrupted by bar sound.
And so he decided to start inviting musicians to play here.
(lively jazz music) And our audience really is very attentive.
And you don't have bar sound.
(laughs) You've got the great outdoors, instead - You see the band is all wearing these lovely T-shirts, and I just happen to have an extra one here.
Is there a Kyle Peck in the audience?
- [Audience] Aw.
(drum rolling) - It has some glow in his dark paint in it, so it glows in the dark.
- Whoa.
- Yeah, right.
(laughs) - Awesome.
- Yeah.
(crowd cheering) - [Kyle] Nice.
Thank you.
It's appreciated.
Glad you're here.
(upbeat music) ♪ If I could, you know I would ♪ ♪ Take my money ♪ - [Kyle] So, it's just open to everybody.
We don't advertise.
- [Kyle] But you're welcome to join us.
(electric guitar thrums) (crowd cheering) (acoustic guitar lick) (crowd cheering) - One more song!
One more song!
One more song!
